Picked up this book purely because of the name, but I actually ended up enjoying it quite a lot It was a cute story of how trying to be perfect can ruin you, and that it s okay to make some mistakes, because that makes you human.Jaclyn was absolutely adorable, and I love her two friends I wish I could adopt all three of them Jackie on the other hand was terrifying girl needs to chill

Honestly, the only reason I picked up this book today while I was wandering around BN was because my name was spelled correctly in the title And I m so glad I did Jaclyn Hyde wants everything to be perfect, and even tries a Perfection Potion This book is a non stop adventure about friendship, forgiveness, and figuring out that you don t have to be perfect all the time

Such an eye catching cover and great title The story is fun with a great message about being okay with imperfection necessary in an age where kids are as hard on themselves as their parents are on themselves.

JACLYN HYDE is a fun middle grade retelling of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Jaclyn is a perfectionist and wants everyone else to recognize it When she accidentally leaves the cage for her bunny open, he escapes Jaclyn and her friends Paige and Fatima take chase, they follow him into Enfield Manor Dr Enfield was a scientist that everyone believed was crazy.Even though she doesn t find her bunny Charles, Jaclyn still doesn t leave the Manor empty handed Here, she finds a recipe for a Perfection Potion and Jaclyn wastes no time in preparing it After she drinks it, she starts doing things against her control bad things to others that make her look perfect When this loss of control happens, she notices a change in her hands almost goblin like It isn t long before her friends are confronted by the dark side of Jaclyn, better known as Jackie They need to help before they lose their friend forever.I love the story of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, so I was really excited to read this one and wasn t disappointed There s a lot of humor and the story moves at a fast pace I love how Jaclyn becomes Jackie and that her appearance resembles a goblin Annabeth Bondor Stone and Connor White do an impeccable job at holding my interest until the end, even as an adult.Final Verdict I would recommend this to fans of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, mystery, science, and humor. This review can also be found on YABC

Rounded up from 4.5 This humorous retelling of Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde communicates a much needed message about perfection Jaclyn is a Type A kid trying to get everything right She is so embarrassed by any failures that she hides away the evidence in a shed in their backyard One day multiple disasters strike and Jaclyn is hunting for her bunny Charles in an abandoned house The house once belonged to a scientist and in his lab is a recipe for a Perfection Potion Jaclyn decides to mix up a batch and the results are very unexpected Along with her best friends, Fatima and Paige, Jaclyn struggles against her alter ego Jackie to make things right again Reluctant readers will love all the mishaps and hijinks that spur the plot forward They will also learn that it is better to be the best version of yourself and learn from the mistakes you make A big thank you to HarperCollins and Edelweiss for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A fast paced retelling of Jekyll and Hyde I enjoyed this book with page turning excitement.Jaclyn wants to be perfect at all times She is in Junior High which is a difficult time for all When she and her friends stumble upon a perfection potion recipe Jaclyn must try it She quickly learns that this potion doesn t do what it says it will In fact, she becomes Jackie all that Jaclyn is not Jackie causes many problems at school the biggest being ruining the school play Jaclyn s friends try to help her find an antidote but before one can be found most of the Junior High is dealing with their evil side causing problems Can Jaclyn get rid of Jackie and the rest of the evil in the school This is a wonderful story that will appeal to many who like just a bit of fantasy with a lot of realistic fiction mixed into the story.

Thank you to the authors for sharing Jaclyn Hyde with Collabookation.Jaclyn has always gone out of her way to be the perfect daughter, friend, student, and classmate, but the pressure is weighing on her When she finds a recipe for a Perfection Potion, she accidentally gives it a try Wild antics ensue I loved this story, and I can easily see my students loving it as well Just enough creepy mystery, some great friendships, and a wonderful family support system all make this a great story of learning perfection is not all it s cracked up to be Highly recommend for students and adults in grades 4 and up

Funny Super cute and hilarious, I see Jacklyn Hyde being a big hit with kids who like both the physical comedy and quick dialogue based humor of contemporary Disney Channel sitcoms It s silly, but in all the best ways Not to mention, Jacklyn Hyde has a pretty decent lesson about self awareness and meeting the expectations of others within its pages Plus, the school dynamics are strangely reminiscent of Matilda I was entertained and will recommend this to young readers aged 8 at my store.

Really fun middle school romp based on a classic tale There was a good balance of humor, action, spooky, and positive life lessons Plus, the title is perfect and the cover art is fantastic Ok fine four stars

  10. says:

This was a really funny middle grade book I enjoyed the light humor It was predictable in the comforting way a middle grade book is It has a good moral of doing your best and not trying to be perfect along with other things.
